Ansai, Chinese Art Town

    Ansai, which paper-cut & painting well-known throughout the country, also is a famous town of folk song & waist drum. Folk paper-cut is simple, unsophisticated but vividly; modern folk painting is colorful; waist drum just like loess powerful wind; Ansai folk songs show the lingering sentiments; these may be rated as cream of the orient aesthetic art.

    Through more than ten years excavate, according to his distinctive character & innate character artistic & study value of ancient culture, it gains good reputation of “Beatty’s Mother”, & also is called “Ground Cultural Relic”, “Living Culture Fossil”. Through arranging & creating a lot of paper－cut ,1000 pictures (kinds) were collected by Chinese Art Center, Shang Hai Art Center, the Central Art College, etc. Many foreigners also brought & collected them one after another. People called it “have vitality’s hill-chrysanthemum”. In 1993, Ansai County was called “Chinese Paper-cut Town” by Chinese’s Culture Department.

    Ansai Modern Folk Painting was developed in the basis of a lot of folk art just like paper-cut, embroider, cloth toy, painting around kang at the end of 70s, is a new & developing folk art style. It has deeply background of nature, history, society, culture & rich life setting, it shows the loess custom &.farmer's simple & honest in Shanbei anywhere . It has highly creative & imaginative faculty, & can be traced to the same origin with the ancient Shanbei’s natural custom. From 1980, paintings were shown in internal & external unceasing; many of them won prices in China also were brought & collected by Chinese Paint Center, Chinese, and foreigners. In 1988, Ansai were called “Nation-wide Modern Folk Painting Town” by Chinese Cultural Department. People said that Ansai modern folk painting is permeated with the Chinese farmer's elegant demeanor of new culture.

    Ansai is the region which keeps & develops collectivest & representativest to Chinese loess culture, it has particular position. Folkway is simple & unsophisticated, passionate, art is magnificent & completely & spread from generations to generations. It is always called “Folk Song's Ocean” by people.

    Ansai waist drum is a folk square dancing art, which lasted more than one thousand years, it’s made according to legend from ancient soldiers who garrison the frontiers, and it hasn't wane in thousand years. In 1986, Chinese 1st folk dancing content, it won the senior price. In 1990, it join group calisthenics of opening ceremony in the 11th Asia Sports Game, was renowned at home & abroad.
